Brand

A brand is a system, not a logo.

The logo is the part everyone argues about and the least important part of the job. What matters is whether the whole thing still holds together on a vehicle, an invoice, a job site sign and a phone screen.

What is included in business branding?

Business branding covers the strategy behind how a company presents itself, the visual identity that expresses it — logo, color, type, imagery — and the messaging that goes with it. CompanyWRX builds brands as applied systems: the deliverable includes the standards and the real-world applications, not only the logo files.

What the work involves

  • Establish what the brand has to communicate and to whom, before anything is drawn.
  • Develop the identity — logo, color, typography, imagery — as a system with rules, not as a single picture.
  • Write the messaging: what the company says about itself, in the words it will actually use.
  • Apply it to the places it has to survive — vehicles, signage, uniforms, proposals, invoices, the website, a phone screen.
  • Document it so a printer, a sign shop and a future employee can all use it without asking.

What you hold afterward

  • A complete logo set in every format a sign shop, printer or developer will ask for.
  • Brand guidelines covering color, type, spacing, usage and the things not to do.
  • Messaging you can hand to anyone who writes on the company’s behalf.
  • Applied artwork for the surfaces that matter to your business — vehicles, signage, collateral.

When this is the wrong thing to buy

If leads are down and you are hoping a rebrand fixes it, it will not. A brand makes a company easier to recognize and trust; it does not generate demand that was not there. Find out why the leads stopped first — usually that is a search, follow-up or reputation problem wearing a branding costume.

Questions

Branding & identity, in practice.

Do we get the original files?

Yes. Every source file, in every format, is yours. You should never be in a position where changing agency means redrawing your own logo.

How is this different from a logo designer?

A logo designer delivers a logo. This delivers the rules for using it and the applications that prove it works — because the failure mode is not an ugly logo, it is a good logo that nobody can apply consistently, so within a year there are four versions of it in circulation.

Can you work with our existing brand?

Often that is the right answer. If the mark has recognition and the problem is inconsistency, the work is standards and application rather than a redraw. We will say so rather than selling you a rebrand.

Not sure this is your problem? That is usually the most useful thing to find out first.
